We’ll work on an Excel sheet called “Monthly Sales.” This sheet contains data down to row 67.

Here’s how to print the Excel’s default row and column headings in Excel. There are two ways to do this.

Check the Print Option from Sheet Options Group

Steps:

➤ Keep your cursor within any cell of the dataset.
➤ Go to Page Layout >> check the Print option under Headings from the Sheet Options group.

➤ Then go to the Print settings by pressing the  Ctrl  +  P  button. Excel’s row and column headings will then be visible.

However, the preview section won’t show all the data. That’s why we need to adjust some print settings.
➤ From the print area drop-down lists, choose the Print Active Sheets option.
➤ Pick the Fit All Columns on One Page option from the scaling options to print all columns.
➤ Then choose a suitable printer.
➤ Finally, print your Excel sheet data.

Use the Page Setup Window to Print Row and Column Headings

An alternative way to print Excel’s row and column headings is to use the Page Setup window.

Steps:

➤ Select all data by pressing  Ctrl  +  A  button.
➤ Go to Page Layout >> click on the Dialog Box Launcher from the Page Setup group.

➤ Or go File >> Print to open Print settings >> choose the Page Setup option.

➤ However, in the Page Setup window, go to the Sheet tab.
➤ Check the Row and column headings option.
➤ Press OK.

Now your data is ready to print.

If your Excel sheet needs more than one page to print, you have to repeat the row and column headers (also called print titles) on each page. If so, try this approach.

Steps:

➤ Select data >> Page Layout >> Print Titles.

➤ From the Sheet tab, go to Rows to repeat at top: box and specify the header row.

➤ Choose the $1:$1 row.

➤ Similarly, specify the header column (e.g. $A:$A) in Columns to repeat at left: box.
➤ Then go to the Print settings >> click Print to proceed.

In print preview, navigating to the second page reveals that the header row is repeated at the top.
